Melissa Sokolik

Substitute Faculty Member

Melissa has been studying dance since the age of four and is currently celebrating her 32nd year with Deborah's Dance Workshop. During those years, she has competed in many regional dance competitions and won many awards.

While working on her B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy at Bay Path College, Melissa auditioned for a part in the Bay Path College Dance Compnay. During her four years as a company member, she performed throughout Western Massachusetts in numerous dance and cabaret performances. She studied and took classes in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical,Modern, Musical Theater, and Therapeutic Fitness. Melissa has an extensive knowledge base in anatomy, physiology, & kinesiology.

Melissa has taken many Master classes and has attended seminars continuing her dance education for 15 years including Dance Teacher Summit, The Pulse Teacher Workshop & Go Dance Teacher Conference.

Melissa also has her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She currently works as an Occupational Therapist at Bristol Hospital & Foothills VNA. Additionally, she is the Co-Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Torrington's Operations Overflow Homeless Shelter.

All three ladies have taken dance classes from DDW for many years. They all bring so much love and dedication in various art forms to the children and the studio. Their many years of training in dance is a great asset to our studio.
